Using Scriptures to Combat Cheating in Marriage

Years ago, I first learned these scriptures from the book titled, “Marriage by Bimbo Odukoya”. Click here to get it.

Praying these scriptures changes the behavior of a cheating spouse:

Proverbs‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬-‭20‬ ‭NKJV

“Drink water from your own cistern, And running water from your own well. Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, Streams of water in the streets? Let them be only your own, And not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love. For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?”‬‬

Consequences for Cheating According to God’s Word:

God abandons unfaithful husbands:

Malachi‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Here is another thing you do. You cover the Lord’s altar with tears, weeping and groaning because he pays no attention to your offerings and doesn’t accept them with pleasure. You cry out, “Why doesn’t the Lord accept my worship?” I’ll tell you why! Because the Lord witnessed the vows you and your wife made when you were young. But you have been unfaithful to her, though she remained your faithful partner, the wife of your marriage vows. Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife.”

Women who engage in adultery face God’s wrath when they refuse to repent and even their children may die;

Revelation‬ ‭2‬:‭21‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“I gave her time to repent, but she does not want to turn away from her immorality. “Therefore, I will throw her on a bed of suffering, and those who commit adultery with her will suffer greatly unless they repent and turn away from her evil deeds. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve. “But I also have a message for the rest of you in Thyatira who have not followed this false teaching (‘deeper truths,’ as they call them—depths of Satan, actually). I will ask nothing more of you”

Praying Ephesians 1 and Ephesians 3 by the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation, God can reveal to you if your spouse is cheating or not. Insert your name and your spouse name where you see the word “you” in Ephesians 1 and Ephesians 3.

And then the Greatest Spiritual Law on Earth:

1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

Here’s how to pray it for yourself and loved ones (insert name in blank spaces)

When you sin, go to God for forgiveness and believe in your heart that God has forgiven you.
